Make the Switch Monday: BOX Naturals vs Neutrogena Face Wipes
We all know that feeling; when you’ve had a long day and all you want to do is fall into bed. But then you remember you have a face full of makeup, and the last thing you feel like doing is a whole facial routine to remove the dirt and grime of the day. We get it, we’ve been there too, and it’s during times like these that reaching for a makeup wipe is the quick and convenient choice.
Unfortunately, many makeup wipes take off more than just your makeup! Many include alcohol that strip the natural oils from your skin, leaving it dry and dull. Alcohol is possibly the least of your worries though, with the grocery list of other unpronounceable, and potentially harmful ingredients, you will find on the back of the package.
When it comes to cleaning our faces, there are so many options to explore. How do you choose the right one? A good start would be to read the ingredients, and know what they are.
Neutrogena Face Wipes
Neutrogena is one of the most popular commercial skin care brands, and you are bound to have seen an advert on television advertising their products. Unfortunately their products contain toxic chemicals, and every time you use their product, you are introducing toxins into your system.
One of these toxins is called Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate. This toxin has long been suspected of causing Neurotoxicity hazards. Neurotoxicity is defined as having toxins in your nervous system, which can cause issues long-term. We think it’s safe to say that we deserve a product that isn’t a hazard to our bodies.
Another ingredient found in Neutrogena face wipes is Phenoxyethanol. This ingredient is intended to replace parabens. Phenoxyethanol is another name for Glycol Ether. This ingredient has been proven to be toxic if swallowed, inhaled, or when absorbed through the skin. It may also cause issues with the reproductive system. Phenoxyethanol has also been proven to irritate the skin on contact, and is highly suspected of containing carcinogens which further damage our bodies.
Neutrogena also contains Hexylene Glycol, a liquid which contains a mild sweet odor. This can affect your liver, kidneys, and nervous system. This ingredient has also been put on the hazardous substance list with several different organizations such as ACGIH, and NIOSH. Hexylene Glycol is found in hydraulic fluids. This is clearly a very serious toxin.
